Determine if async would work for you with a simple workbook.

Async collaboration may not be an appropriate working methodology for every team or company. Different kinds of work output naturally require different working methodologies.

Use the following checklist to assess the suitability of async collaboration for you. Rate each statement on a scale of 0 to 5, where 0 = strongly disagree and 5 = strongly agree.

The output of my team is largely digitally-based.
My team’s work occurs online and in the cloud.
My team currently has — or may in the future have — team members dispersed across multiple locations/time zones.
Members of the team have child or elder care duties.
My team would benefit from more periods of uninterrupted, deep work.
My team’s decision-making processes would benefit from more input from more contributors.
External clients may be open to communicating with our team asynchronously.
The members of my team may be more productive if their hours were more flexible.
The members of my team are capable of effectively communicating in writing.

If the combined total of your answers is 30 or above, you may benefit from learning and mastering the methodology of async collaboration.
